He is an economist trained in Bonn and Berkeley and has an MPA from Harvard as well as a PhD from the University of Cologne. Between 2000 and 2021, he was Die ZEIT’s Economic and Business Editor. He also serves as an Honorary Professor at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg.
